Consumer health data policy
This page is for people in Washington State, under its My Health My Data Act, and for anyone else a law gives the same rights. It sits beside our privacy policy, which says everything PlateEffect keeps: this page says which of it is health data, and how to use your rights over it. PlateEffect is provided by Raman ("we").
The health data we collect, and why
- Your body: weigh-ins, waist and other measurements, typed by you or brought in from Apple Health or Health Connect with History import; your date of birth and sex, if you give them.
- Your days: each day's steps and each night's sleep, copied from Apple Health or Health Connect if you turn them on.
- What you eat, drink and train: meals and the foods in them, water, supplements and how much you took, workouts and your Targets.
- For PlateEffect AI: a photo of a meal, or a meal you describe, when you ask PlateEffect AI to name its foods. It is read and not kept, as the privacy policy explains.
We use it only to run PlateEffect for you: to show your log back to you, Sync it to your devices, keep its Cloud backups, compare what you eat with the published daily figures you chose and, for PlateEffect AI, name the foods in a meal. We never sell it and never use it for advertising.
Where it comes from
- From you: what you type or choose in PlateEffect, and what you write to us.
- From Apple Health or Health Connect: only what you turn on in Settings › Health, once your phone has asked your permission.
- From your camera: only the meal photos you take for PlateEffect AI.
Who handles it
We don't sell health data, and we don't share it with anyone who would use it for their own purposes. We have no affiliates. These services handle it only for us, to run PlateEffect:
- Cloudflare, Inc. runs our server and stores your log and its Cloud backups (all of the health data above), and passes PlateEffect AI's requests on. Contact: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Google LLC reads a meal photo or description for PlateEffect AI and keeps nothing it is sent; Google Workspace holds our support mailbox, so it keeps what you write to us. Contact: policies.google.com/privacy.
Your rights, and how to use them
- To know and to see. You can ask whether we collect or share your health data, see it, and get the list of everyone it has gone to, with how to contact them. A backup file you make in the app holds your whole log; or write to us.
- To withdraw consent. Turn off reading in Settings › Health, turn off PlateEffect AI in Settings › PlateEffect AI, delete what you recorded, or delete your Account.
- To delete. Settings → Account → Delete Account deletes everything at once, Cloud backups included. You can also write to us, and we delete it and make sure the services above delete it too.
Write to support@plateeffect.com from the email address of your Account. It costs nothing. We answer within 45 days; if we need longer, we tell you why within those 45 days and answer within 45 more.
Appeal. If we refuse a request, reply to our answer saying you appeal, and we answer in writing within 45 days, saying what we did and why. If we still refuse, you can complain to the Washington State Attorney General at atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
